Scoutmaster's Message

Hello, My name is Len Angie and I am the Scoutmaster of Troop 130. Our troop is sponsored by Our Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Greece, NY. Our troop just celebrated our 57th anniversary in March 2006.

The purpose of scouting is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of citizenship and to develop personal fitness and independence. I along with all our dedicated leaders believe the Values of Scouting along with the Outdoor Program is an opportunity that every boy should have a chance to experience.

It is truly rewarding to see each scout grow during their journey through Scouting: having lots of fun, enjoying the outdoors, building friendships, setting positive goals in advancement and living the values of scouting. Knowing that the Scouting Program will help them to be the successful future leaders of our community and country.

In closing I would like to share with you a quote that Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell [founder of the world Scouting Movement] told all his great leaders as they were continuing to make the Boy Scout Movement grow throughout the world:

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car that I drove, but the world may well be different because I was important in the life of a boy."
