Favorite Camping Experience:
It's very difficult to come up with a favorite camping experience. They were all worthwhile and excellent experiences. The one that I remember the best was back in the fall of 1990 at Babcock Hovey. As we were on our Saturday hike through the camp grounds, Michael Hunt and I noticed 3 girl scouts struggling to carry 5 gallon jugs of water to their area. Being the nice guys that we were, we assisted them in their mission to have clean water. Because of our kindness, the girls and their leaders invited us back to their cabin for a nice campground cooked meal. Obviously, as growing boys, this was after our dinner with our own Troop. We then stayed and played cards late into the evening. Upon our return to Rochester at Mike's Eagle Scout ceremony, we were presented with the Climer/Pero Meritorious Award for Chivalry for aiding girl scouts in need. The plaque was presented upon a piece of bark that they had secured from the camp site.
